So I have been planning a blog for a long time now, but finally it is up and running. I will start this one by showing a few of my recent makes, including an Art Gallery Fabrics moneta dress and a special gift for the cutest little boy.
Firstly the moneta dress. I really do love these dresses, as they are so comfortable, can be dressed up or down, and are so easy to sew! (I actually find sewing with jersey easier than normal dress cotton!) I have sewn three AGF moneta dresses this week, but only one has been hemmed unfortunately.
All my latest moneta dresses have had a lowered neckline ready for the summer months… although this weekend was not warm enough for no leggings. This was done by trial and error to start with, but I am finally happy with the location of the neckline. The only other alteration I have done with this moneta dress is I have added an inch to the width of the skirt, as I love the extra fullness- perfect for swooshing around.
Lastly its a special little gift. I made this one a while ago but I have been waiting to gift it before I can show everyone (which was really hard). Baby Avery is such a cute little boy and I really wanted to make him something which he can enjoy, but is also practical. So I have made him a play mat bag! This play mat can then easily be pulled into a bag with all the toys quickly and easily contained inside! Perfect.
I saw similar bags on Pinterest and basically made up the pattern for it. I am very happy with how it turned out, but most of all, I love the tag for the pull tie! Captain America is the Daddy’s favourite superhero so I made sure this was the one on the tag.
This amazing superhero fabric is from America (can not remember what shop now- maybe etsy) and is definitely a perfect match for this comic book obsessed family! Inside is super soft jersey from the Village Haberdashery, which I got after winning a voucher in their #TVHhaul competition.
Thats all for now. Hope everyone has enjoyed a weekend of sewing!
