I have not blogged in so long! Very sorry about that. But I’m going to end 2017 how I mean for 2018 to be… productive!
So I was super excited when I found some gorgeous penguin sweat shirting in my stash, and decided that it had to get used before Christmas began. This fabric is left over from the sweatshirt I made for my friend last Christmas (but actually gifted to her in February!)
This is her sweatshirt…
This fabric is from Dots n Stripes, but unfortunately I can no longer find it on their website. Sorry guys!
So I decided to go for the Grainline Studio linden sweatshirt again (the same patten as I had already made with this fabric). Amazingly I actually own only one linden sweatshirt (from the LindenSwap organised by SewMyOwn, with mine made from RedWSews), although I had actually made quite a few for gifts.
I did some serious tetris to get all the pattern pieces to fit, with only scraps left. Luckily the penguins are in both directions, so it was less crucial to have all the pattern pieces to face the same way.
I haven’t actually top stitched the neck band down yet (I was too keen to wear it to work!) but as the neckband is laying nicely I think I will leave it alone.
I almost actually pattern matched a penguin in the hem band to the front of the jumper! I think it should maybe be definitely not matched, or perfectly matched. But maybe you guys think its not so bad?!
I of course had to do a penguin impression…
I have to say, stash busting feels so good! But this mean I am now allowed to buy more fabric over the Christmas holidays, right? haha!
For this sweatshirt, I had a size 10. But I think in future I will make a size 8… I prefer the slightly more fitted look over the boxy style.
But that being said, I think this will be worn a fair few times over the christmas holidays!
Hope you are all enjoying the lead up to the big day,
Love, Abigail x
